Chengdu is located in the fertile plains of China's Sichuan province and is known to be a very laid-back city and ranked one of the most liveable cities in China in recent years. It is credited with a good nightlife scene and contains many new western style buildings in the large city centre. The airport is located 20km outside of Chengdu. Chengdu airport is one of the main air hubs in China, ranked 5th in passenger volume. It has flights to most major cities in China and some international destinations. Taxis are the most common means of transportation from the airport to the city, though you can take a bus but note that the last bus leaves the airport around 1 am. Places where you could get around are Sichuan University Museum, Sichuan Opera (most guest houses and travel agencies offer to arrange visits to these traditional shows). There exists high class and luxurious hotel in Chengdu, for instance the Forstar Hotel (a business hotel in Sichuan), Jin Jiang Hotel or Chengdu Lido Sheraton.
